It dawned on me this weekend when talking to my mum that some people don't know what a stamp card is. So this is a really quick blog entry explaining what a traditional analog stamp card is and how it works, and then how it works in an app.
Here's some pics of Peggy's analog stamp cards. Peggy's is a cafe in Bristol that have been using the Squid loyalty app for quite some time, but also still use real cards for customers who don't want to be on Squid.

Recently Peggy's has decided to move away from Squid in favour of IndiStamp. This is how theur card currently looks in the app:

And this is the main bit for my mother. In all cases, a simple offer is made (of the vendor's choosing) and a stamp is given every time a certain condition is met. When the stamp card is complete it is handed in and redeemed for the promised reward.
For Peggy's it's "buy 7 coffees get the 8th free". For Veda Coda it's "Collect 6 stamps to get a free ticket".
It's simple, and it works. It keeps customers coming back.
The advantages of having a digital version are numerous for both vendor and customer. For the vendor having a digital relationship with regular customers can be great for growth and feedback, as long as the app is well designed for their needs. IndiStamp excels at this for independent businesses.
